Wow, I’m a mom of a 3 year old! I love seeing Matthew’s heart, joy, and personality as he grows into a little man. He is constantly wanting to take care of Timothy. Matthew loves to hold Timothy’s hand in the car, and will get upset when he can’t reach it. Matthew’s favorite snuggle thing is his baby brother, and Timothy is all giggles and smiles as soon as he hears Matthew’s greeting in the morning. Matthew is a very generous little boy, always wanting to pitch in with a ‘helping’ hand. He is also turning out to be quite the stubborn little boy; and very opinionated. Sometime this can be cute, sometimes, not so much. 😉 So, Happy birthday my little man #1, I love you to pieces!!
Snuggling at bedtime
This is what I found one morning as I got out of the shower.
OK, I am now convinced that being a mom is the hardest, yet most rewarding job in the world. Timothy is 8 weeks old now, and I feel as though we are just now finding our groove. Yesterday was the first day in I don’t know how long I was able to get what needed to get done and still have time to play with Matthew and snuggle with Timothy with out having to feed him. So we were in jammies all day, but who cares! I also must say that I have unfairly judged all moms for more than one child. I don’t think anyone can understand all the struggles that come from adding one more child into a family unless you have been there personally, and I am truly sorry to all I have miss judged. Not much sleep is starting to become routine. Timothy is up a couple times a night now, guess I shouldn’t have bragged so much about him sleeping through the night!! But in the end, it’s all worth it. I can’t wait to have both boys hugging me, telling me that they love me. Ah, I love being a mom!! (and having some pretty adorable boys helps too!)
Well, here he is!! Timothy Addison Phillips was born last friday, October 15th at 6:57pm. What a day to remember! We had a c-section scheduled for 3:30, and I learned that this is an estimated time. We had to be at the hospital at 1:30 to start the check in process and get all of the needed medical things done, but I was not actually admitted until 2:15. Everyone we talked to said it was a busy day in the baby delivering business. Good thing we knew one of the nurses (thanks Debbie!!) or else we would have been turned away, having to come back on a not so busy day. (I never knew you could do this…) So thankful we were able to have Timothy that day. I don’t think I would have been able to emotionally handle being sent home to wonder when he would finally make is appearance. Well, 3:30 rolls around and everything is ready to go, we just have to wait for the Dr. to get there. When she does show up, we move into the OR only to find out that we got bumped due to a last minute c-section for a woman who had been pushing for like 3 hours, and we lost our anesthesiologist. (they only have one for l&d) So, here Debbie, Paul, & I are waiting in the OR for our turn to get going, and were about 10-15 min away from our turn when another nurse burst in and told us we needed to get out of the OR because of an emergency prolapsed cord delivery. That got the adrenaline pumping!! So we head back to our room, by now it’s close to 5:30, and I cant help but think we should have a 2 hour old baby by now, and I was getting a little anxious. Leave it to Paul to get me laughing to help relax and calm my nerves. (Thanks babe!!) Debbie came in to let us know that both surgeries were done, (both mama’s and babies were ok) but housekeeping was MIA to clean up both of the OR’s. Well, Super Debbie went to work with another nurse to get the OR cleaned up so we could finally have our baby. At 6:30ish we make that walk again to the OR. This time we finally get to have our baby, no interruptions, no emergencies. I’m always surprised at how long (or should I say short) it actually takes to deliver once the Dr. starts. So, about 3 1/2 hours later then we thought, Timothy came into the world with the highest pitch squeal I have ever heard a newborn make. It was music to my ears! (I think only a mom would say that!) Timothy came in weighing 9 lbs, 9 oz, and 20 1/2 in long. BIG BOY!!! I was shocked when they said how big he was, thinking how did he fit inside of me!! But he did, and I am go happy he came big and strong. Even with his size and my diabetes, his blood sugars were all in the normal level and pretty much stayed that way through our hospital stay. We were released on Sunday, which was such a blessing to be going home so soon. Hospital stays are never fun, and let’s face it, not that restful. (at least for me) So, here we are, a week later, and I am recovering great, Timothy is a great sleeper, going for 5-6 hours at a time before he realizes he’s hungry, and Matthew couldn’t be a better big brother. Matthew adores Timothy. It’s the cutest thing. He loves to hug and kiss and sooth (even help feed) Timothy. I think I have the bestest two boys ever! And thank you mom for all of your help this week. I truly don’t know how I would have survived this week with out your help during the day when Paul was at work. I love you. And thank you Paul, you’re the best Dad in the world, and I love how you willing you are to step in and help when I really need you. I love you!
Ok, so I know you’re all wanting to see Timothy, so here are a few of my favorite pictures to far. More to come soon!
Well, the day has finally arrived. Baby P is scheduled for a c-section today at 3:30. I think I running the gauntlet of emotions preparing for his arrival and my hospital stay/recovery. This morning I woke up at 6:30 for our last meal shared through the umbilical cord. I found myself crying over the cinnamon toast and eggs, just feeling overwhelmed. Crawled back into bed to get a few last minute snuggles from Paul before he needed to get up for work and couldn’t breath very well because of anxiety, then went and got Matthew up with a big smile and got the morning routine started. It is really weird how the world around outside acts as if nothing life changing is happening today. The gardeners are here, making the usual racket, neighbors are out walking their dogs, kidlets playing…
Ok, so my mind is wondering just a bit, just can’t seem to focus. BUT I will get some pics up of our new little man just as soon as I can.
Matthew got a taste of real bowling yesterday. (He’s used to the bowling with the wii) He loved it. He cheered and clapped for anyone who knocked down any pins, and when there was some extra time left Matthew even got to roll a few balls himself. Matthew got super excited when he was able to knock down a few pins too!

Matthew loves helping make cookies. I have been a little reluctant to make them, since I can’t enjoy them, but who can say no to such a cute little face!
Here we go, 10 weeks left and counting! We had a 4D ultrasound done last night, and we’re still trying to figure out if this new little one will look like his big brother, or just like himself. He does have quite the personality already, he totally was totally letting us know that he is a he. The tech caught his grabbing his ‘stuff’.
Wow, what a few months it’s been! Sorry, I’m not so good blogging.
Baby boy Phillips (yup, another boy!!!) is growing stronger every day, moving and kicking my insides around like crazy, and I’m loving every moment! I can’t wait to meet him. It seems so weird that I only have about 13 weeks left, this pregnancy is just flying by! Still praying for a natural delivery, anything to avoid another c-section. But I know that no matter what, I will still be overjoyed when I’m holding that little boy in my arms.
Other big news is Phillips Data has moved out! I have a house to myself! We are totally excited about this. But along with this move has come a lot of changes I wasn’t quite expecting. I didn’t realize how often I took advantage of Paul being home all day, every day. So, now errands need to be worked around nap times, temper tantrums, and the many other things that can pop up that I had never really thought about before, but it’s so fun and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Paul’s new office is only a couple miles away, and is everything we’ve been praying for.
A little catching up on Matthew…wow this kid has changed a lot in the past few weeks! He can count to 20, knows his alphabet, still working on colors, and almost has directions down. (So much more so then his mama!!) He gets so excited to take lunch to Daddy at work on Fridays, it’s the cutest thing! Matthew had a HUGE fetish with doors, opening and closing them any chance he gets. He especially loves the automatic ones. He gets so proud when he can open them all by himself. He even announces it to the world! Matthew is in love with anything Mickey Mouse. As soon as he wakes up in the morning, that’s the first thing he wants to do…watch Mickey. Next week Matthew gets his big boy bed, all decked out in Mickey, and can’t wait to see what he thinks of it when he sees it all put together. And I’m sure he’ll enjoy being able to stretch out sleeping, since he’s outgrown his pack n’ play. (dude’s a tall drink of water!!) I don’t know how I got so lucky to have a son like him, and I love him dearly! Every day he does something that makes my heart smile!

This last Sunday, my brother made me an auntie to a beautiful baby boy. His name is Nathanael John Gronewold. He came in weighing 9 pounds and 21 inches long. After a little bit of a rough start, he gets to go home today to finally meet his 2 big brothers. Congratulations Peter, Melody, Bakari, and Xavier! You are one blessed family. (and ps…I CANNOT wait to snuggle this little guy!)
I just realized how long it had been since I had posted something, and I came to the realization that I stink at blogging.
So, I’ll try to bring everyone up to date with all of the happenings of the Phillips family.
Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed to just fly by! (But isn’t that the way it always happens!!) We found out that Matthew was deathly afraid of opening presents, especially if you had to take a toy out of a box to play with it. So, needless to day, Christmas was a little interesting this year, but still fun nun the less.
Not long after Christmas, Matthew celebrated his 2nd birthday. (I still can’t believe I’m the Momma of a 2 year old!!) We celebrated at the part with all of Matthew’s favorite things, which included sliding, swinging, fishies, and bananas.
And the biggest news of all….In October we will be adding another little blessing to our family. We are so excited, nervous, joyous, and a little scared. I’m having fun teaching Matthew that he is going to be a big brother soon, and he now points at my tummy and says ‘mama bebe’. It’s just so darn cute.
I’ll leave you with some pictures of the last few months.
